Request a Practical Dairy Advisor

Any farm enrolled in either the profit team or target team programs has the opportunity to have a Practical Dairy Advisor work with their team. The Practical Dairy Advisor would use personal experience to help the farm’s management team make best practice decisions and navigate through change on their dairy operation. The Practical Dairy Advisor could provide advice on reaching higher milk production, improving reproduction or milk quality, identifying bottlenecks in operation and or working through an expansion or modernization project, among others.

The Program:

• The Practical Dairy Advisor program is part of the Center's Dairy Profit Team Program and is available to farms participating in the dairy profit, target profit or succession planning team concept. 
• The Center and Penn State Dairy Alliance, an initiative of Penn State Cooperative Extension, provide a “start- up” training workshop for new profit teams and assign a support person to each team to provide resources and share successful ideas from other teams. • Other ways farms could use funding could include using the PA Dairy Tool – developed by Penn State Dairy Extension to help drill down to specific bottlenecks in the operation. Find out more at the PA Dairy Tool website.
