Consumer Education Resources

Pennsylvania’s dairy industry is vital to the commonwealth’s economy, environment and its local communities. Yet, the average consumer – our non-farm neighbors – knows very little about dairy farming and the value it provides. The Pennsylvania Dairy Task Force and Center for Dairy Excellence, under the leadership of Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Dennis Wolff, have developed a variety resources to educate local consumers about the value of the dairy industry. To help you reach your non-farm neighbors, we offer the following materials free of charge:

The Cash Cow Brochure was created in 2005 to educate elected officials and other influencers on the economic value and importance of the commonwealth’s dairy industry. Click here to order.

The Dairy Farmers Care Brochure was created in 2006 to educate consumers about the many contributions dairy producers make to their communities, the economy, the environment and to providing healthy products. Click here to order.

"What Dairy Farmers Bring to PA" PowerPoint can be downloaded to showcase the value and opportunity dairy brings to a local community and to the commonwealth. It features charts demonstrating dairy’s value and photos of PA farm families. Click here to download.

Farm Tour Guide will be a resource to walk you through the steps that you should consider when planning a tour at your farm. It will also link you to contact information to order resources and materials to enhance your tour. Check back in the fall of 2008 for this resource.

Tailored Resources

The Farm Brochure Template can be easily tailored to your own farm. All you have to do is answer a few simple questions about your farm, attach one or two digital pictures to use in the brochure, and click to create your brochure.
