I want to reach out to the local community
Sharing the dairy story with members in your community -- your neighbors, community leaders, policy makers and young people or students -- is essential. Less than 1.5 percent of the U.S. population are directly involved in farming or production agriculture. Most people know very little about your dairy farm or what dairy farmers do. Here are some resources to help you share that story.
Resources for Community Leaders & Neighbors
The average consumer -- our non-farm neighbors -- know very little about dairy farming and the value it provides. The Center for Dairy Excellence offers a resources to help educate this audience.
Consumer education resources: Brochures, a PowerPoint, and a farm tour guide are all available free of charge. You can use these items to educate your non-farm neighbors and community members about dairy.
Dairy Farmer Speakers Bureau: The center works with the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program to coordinate the "Dairy Farmer Speakers Bureau," funded by Dairy Checkoff. This program aligns farmers who want to share their story with local community organizations.

Resources for Public Officials
Key policy leaders -- whether it's at the local, state or national level -- need to know what dairy brings to the local community. They need to hear from dairy farmers and agribusiness leaders -- the people who live and breathe dairy everyday to understand who we are and what we represent.
