Based on the USDA ERS Fluid Milk Sales data, 2023 total fluid milk
beverages sales came in at 42.8 billion pounds, down 17.5% from a decade
ago. However, whole milk sales trended upward from 2021 to 2023 at 16.3
billion pounds. A far cry from the whole milk sales volume seen in 1975 at
36.2 million pounds but a light rebound nonetheless. Reduced fat (2% milk
fat) and low-fat (1% milk fat) sales were down 28.% and 31.6%,
respectively, from 2013 numbers. Flavored whole milk sales also have
declined from 810 million pounds in 2021 to 753 million pounds in 2023.
