Educational Programs and Resources for Tomorrow’s Dairy Farmers, Leaders and Consumers
Empowering the next generation of dairy farmers starts with the education they receive today. With less than two percent of the U.S. population directly involved in production agriculture, the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania was created to expose students to agriculture-related careers and inspire the producers, consumers, and advocates of tomorrow.
Through creative programming, career preparation resources, and internship and scholarship opportunities, our Foundation helps students of all ages discover the world of dairy farming. From engaging, classroom-based activities for elementary schoolers to specialized dairy business classes for high schoolers, our programming gives students an inside look at the dairy industry.
My internship through the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation, The Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association was my favorite program I participated in college. They introduced me to exceptional dairymen and women who I still contact today. I learned the importance of empowering employees to do their best, and I also saw firsthand the dynamics of an LLC and non-family members working together through a partnership.
I recently started my new position as the herdsman for my family dairy farm and milk market. All of the experiences and people I have met through the Foundation’s programs helped me achieve my ultimate goal of returning to my family dairy. I have references across the country that guide me through decision-making and growing the herd.
