The Biosecurity Plan Veterinary Review Program is specifically designed to reimburse large animal veterinarians for the time they spend with individual dairy farm clients in Pennsylvania. The grants would reimburse these veterinarians for the time they spend reviewing producers’ biosecurity plans and National FARM protocols to ensure those plans are well-written to document biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, such as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).
Grants are available for veterinarians to work with up to 10 farms, with a total grant award of $3,000 per individual veterinarian. All funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to apply online by April 30, 2025.
Eligibility and Requirements
This program will reimburse veterinarians for two hours of time at $150 per hour for each farm that they assist in reviewing and completing those biosecurity plans. Grants are available for veterinarians to work with up to 10 farms, with a total grant award of $3,000 per individual veterinarian. Multiple veterinarians from the same clinic can apply.
A veterinarian does not have to be located in Pennsylvania to qualify. However, all farms included in the reimbursement form must have a Pennsylvania address to qualify as a reimbursable expense since this program is funded through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Checks can be made out to the same practice for multiple veterinarians after a W-9 is on file with the Center. Any funding received through this grant will be considered taxable income by the IRS.
All funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify as a reimbursable farm, a dairy farm must reside in Pennsylvania and have a signed Veterinarian Client Patient Agreement on file with the veterinarian. The veterinarian must have the farmer sign an affirmation statement that the service was provided and satisfactory to be reimbursed. Funding for this program is provided through Ag Excellence dollars from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Timeline
This grant program will be open from April 1 – April 30, 2025 or until all grant funding is allocated.
Once approved, veterinarians will be provided with a reimbursement sheet to begin using in reviewing farm biosecurity plans. Plan reviews must take place prior to June 15, 2025, with all reimbursement sheets submitted to the Center by June 30, 2025. If requested, the Center will provide biosecurity resource kits and planning templates to veterinarians to share with dairy farms to assist in completing and reviewing their plans.
