As a dairy processors or cooperative representative, here are some takeaways from the 2025 Dairy Producer Survey that could give insight into the dairy producers you work with. View the charts below.

  • Animal welfare. A total of 90 percent of the 603 active dairy producers responding to the survey acknowledged they were participating in an animal welfare program like the National FARM Program. This is up from the 80 percent who acknowledged they were enrolled in an animal welfare program in 2020. This shows more awareness about the FARM Program.
  • Milk production. Most respondents in the survey were producing less than 4 million pounds of milk.
  • Somatic cell count. A total of 80 percent of respondents have somatic cell counts ranging between 100,000 and 250,000 cells per milliliter.
  • Milk markets. Slightly less than 80 percent of respondents were marketing their milk to a cooperative.
