Based on the most recent USDA Milk Production report, U.S. milk output
reached 57.8 million pounds for the last quarter of the year, up 4.2 percent
from the same quarter the prior year. For October-December 2025, the nation’s
milking herd averaged 9.56 million head, a 23,000 head increase from
the same timeframe in 2024. U.S. milk production equaled 19.6 million pounds
in December 2025, up 4.4 percent from December 2024’s 18.7 million pounds.
