Center for Dairy Excellence and the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania
The best way to know your future is to create it. Whether you’re in your 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, or even 70s or 80s, if you have a stake in a dairy farm, you need to be planning for your future retirement or your entry into ownership.
To help dairy farm families begin tackling the process of succession planning for partners of all ages, the Center for Dairy Excellence and the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania will be hosting an “Own Your Future” forum on Wednesday, November 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Janelle Hall in Berks County. The day-long forum will provide insight and resources for families to use as they develop transition plans for the future of their operations. The event will include lunch and a tour of a nearby dairy farm in the afternoon.
During the forum, you’ll hear from a panel of dairy producers and financial and retirement advisors who will have an open conversation about:
- How to start business succession planning for all ages
- Tips for starting and managing the conversation without conflict
- What to do if the next generation doesn’t want to succeed you
- What you need between partners to manage family dynamics
- How to come up with a plan that works for everyone
