Total US milk production was down 0.4 percent year over year to 18.9
billion pounds in July, with production per cow up 1 pound from last July
to 2,028 pounds. The nation’s dairy herd lost 43,000 head from a year
ago but was up 5,000 head from June to 9.33 million head.
