Total US cheese output in June was down 1.4 percent from a year ago
to 1.16 billion pounds. On a daily average, total cheese output was
down 0.9 percent from May’s production levels. American type cheese
production was down 4.9 percent from a year ago, with Cheddar
cheese production down 9 percent. Italian type cheese production was
down 0.1 percent from a year ago. Butter production increased year
over year in June, up 2.8 percent to 169.1 million pounds. However, on
a daily average basis, butter production fell nearly 14 percent from May.
