Based on the most recent USDA Milk Production report, U.S. milk production
totaled 18.8 billion pounds, surging 4.5 percent upward from November 2024.
This follows a revised 19.5 million pounds, up 3.6 percent from the same month
the prior year. However, the revised milk production was down 0.1 percent from
October’s preliminary estimates. Production per cow averaged 1,963 pounds, up
41 pounds year over year. The nation’s milking herd increased by 211,000 head
from November 2024 to 9.57 million head in November 2025.
