Based on the most recent USDA Dairy Products report, April’s total cheese
output reached 1.27 billion pounds, up 1.7 year over year and 0.3 percent
month over month. Italian type cheese production was up 4.2 percent from
April 2025 and 2.5 percent from March 2026 to 556 million pounds for April
2026. Mozzarella production increased by 13.6 percent from April 2025’s
levels to 182 million pounds.
