Based on the May 2025-2026 World Agricultural Supply and Demand
Estimates (WASDE) report, economists project corn yields to reach 181
bushels (bu.) per acre (ac.), the highest yield in 12 years. Planted corn acres
are forecasted to be 95.3 million, which if realized would be a record high for
the decade. With projected yield and acreage increases, the U.S. corn crop is
estimated to reach 158 billion bu., a potential 6 percent hike year over year.
Total U.S. corn use is projected to be up one percent, fueled by increased
domestic demand and exports.
