The Center Has Extended the Nomination Deadline to October 15

The deadline to nominate a dairy producer or veterinarian for the Center for Dairy Excellence’s Board of Directors has been extended to October 15, 2019. The Center, which is non-profit 501C6 focused on strengthening and supporting Pennsylvania’s dairy industry, is currently looking to fill two openings on the board:

  1. A dairy producer from southeast Pennsylvania to fill an open position that will be vacated by a board member who has reached the two-consecutive term maximum set by the organization’s bylaws
  2. A veterinarian with experience consulting dairy clients who is passionate about the future of the dairy industry

“These positions are exciting opportunities for individuals who want to make an impact on Pennsylvania dairy farms and use their skills and experiences to help guide the Center for Dairy Excellence,” said Mark Mosemann, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Whether individuals nominate themselves or someone they know, we’re looking for someone with an eye on the future of dairy.”

The Center’s Board of Directors must agree to serve a three-year term and may be re-elected for an additional term. The 16-member board guides the work of the Center for Dairy Excellence, a non-profit organization that fosters collaboration across the industry and provides resources to strengthen Pennsylvania dairy farms.

The individuals selected to the Center’s board may be asked to serve on a committee. The board meets four times a year, with committee meetings held once or twice a year. Board members are elected by the current Board of Directors during the annual board meeting, scheduled for December 11, 2019.

The Center’s Board of Directors was developed to represent multiple aspects of the dairy industry, with seats for dairy farmers, allied industry professionals, marketing cooperative employees, veterinarians, retail representatives, processor representatives, and members from the Pennsylvania General Assembly. There is also a representative from the Penn State College of Ag Sciences Extension Dairy team and the current Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture.

To nominate an individual for one of the Board of Director positions, please send the individual’s name, contact information, and a one-paragraph statement about his or her background to Jayne Sebright, executive director, via email at jsebright@centerfordairyexcellence.org or fax to 717-705-2342. Individuals may nominate themselves. Nominations may also be submitted by mail to Center for Dairy Excellence, Attn: Jayne Sebright, 2301 North Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

All nominations should be received by the Center for Dairy Excellence no later than October 15, 2019.
