Dairy Producers Get Questions Answered About Dairy Checkoff, DMC and CFAP Programs

A Recording of the Center’s Recent Conference Call Is Available to All Dairy Producers

The Center for Dairy Excellence recently released a recording of its eighth Dairy Industry Conference Call. Dairy producers and industry representatives from Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, New York and beyond joined the call and asked questions about the Dairy Checkoff, Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC), and the Coronavirus Food Assistance Programs (CFAP). A recording of the conference call is available to dairy professionals with or without Internet access.

The Center’s Dairy Industry Conference Call series was launched in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and features different panelists who provide important dairy updates and answer real-time questions submitted by dairy farmers about the industry’s most pressing issues. To date, more than 1,900 dairy farmers and industry professionals have joined the conference call series.

“During our latest call, we were fortune to have panelists from the Dairy Checkoff Program answer questions that were submitted directly from dairy producers. Dairy farmers often wonder where the 15 cents on every hundredweight is going, and this was a great forum to get answers directly from the source,” said Jayne Sebright, Executive Director at the Center for Dairy Excellence. “The recording is available for anyone who is interested in listening, and in addition to the Checkoff discussion, panelists also addressed questions about DMC and CFAP.”

Panelists answered some of the following questions that were submitted by dairy farmers:

  • Who is responsible for how our mandatory checkoff is spent? What options are available for farmers to have a voice in these decisions?
  • What percentage of Dairy Management, Inc’s total budget comes from producer checkoff funds and what percentage comes from corporate partners?
  • Can you explain the Class III trigger level on the new DMC decision-making tool?
