Speaker to Share Tips on Tackling Tough Conversations and Facilitating Conversations That Matter at Conference on Sept. 9

The Dairy Financial & Risk Management Conference Will Be Held on September 9

Agriculture lenders and consultants who work with dairy farm families know that productive family business conversations often include more than financials. At the 2026 Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference on September 9 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Mike McGrann, a Managing Director in the BBH Center for Family Business, will share tips on tackling tough conversations in a family business setting and how to facilitate conversations that matter. Titled “Rewriting the Future,” the day-long conference includes additional speakers who will challenge ag lenders and consultants to help their dairy clients reimagine what their legacies look like, think outside the box with nontraditional partnerships, and drill down on the evolving economics of dairy markets and risk management.

The conference is planned for Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the PA Farm Show Complex (McClay Street Entrance) in Harrisburg, Pa. Discounts are available for dairy producers. Dairy financial consultants, lending representatives, and interested dairy producers can register online at www.centerfordairyexcellence.org/financial-conference.

“When creating transition, financial, or business plans with dairy farm families, facilitating those discussions can feel like a balancing act. There are often emotions, points of tension, and unresolved conflicts that dairy farm families need to navigate,” said Valerie Mason-Faith, Risk Education Manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence. “During this session at the Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference, Mike McGrann will share how lenders and financial consultants can tackle tough conversations and dynamics surrounding the financial planning process. We hope you can join us for the event.”

McGrann will share personal insight and strategies to clear the path for productive family business transitions for dairy farm clients. McGrann is a Managing Director in the BBH Center for Family Business. In this role, he helps private business owners navigate issues at the intersection of family and business and is a trusted thought partner to owners as they manage complex issues around succession, growth, and legacy preservation. Prior to joining the firm, he spent over 25 years working with complex multigenerational family enterprises, families of wealth, and family offices around the world providing consulting services and educational programming.
